Men cant impregnate a woman and abandon her anymore.... IN LAGOS!

Its sit-up time for men in Lagos as the State Government yesterday announced a review of the law enacted to protect pregnant women and their babies.

The State Attorney General, Ade Ipaye said that it is now a criminal offence in Lagos for a man to desert a woman he impregnated.

At the sensitization programme on the ‘Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011′ and ‘Administration of Criminal Justice Law, 2011′, Mr. Ipaye said the law was enacted to protect pregnant women and their babies.

He added that the new law makes it criminal for a man to refuse to contribute to the ante-natal and post-natal expenses of a woman he impregnated.

“Any person who impregnates a woman or girl and fails, refuses or neglects to contribute to maternity related cost from ante-natal or post-natal stages, is guilty of an offence under section 277 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State and is liable to face the wrath of the law,” Ipaye said.

Ipaye said the old law handed down by the British Colonial Government was outdated, as it mainly reflected the values of the colonial administration.

“The review of this law was necessitated by the fact that some of the laws that existed prior to this time were outdated,” he said.

“The review is therefore aimed at reflecting current day realities, as the old Criminal Code Law has become inadequate to address the challenges of contemporary criminality.”

Ipaye, who also doubles as the Commissioner for Justice, said the state criminal law was enacted to regulate public order and provide rules on criminal conduct, among other objectives.

He however stressed that the new law has replaced the Criminal Code Law of Lagos State Cap.C17 Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003, introduced in Southern Nigeria in 1914.

Wow, this sounds like good news for women in Lagos state. I often hear of men abandoning women after impregnating them, leaving them to cater for themselves and the babies under extreme conditions. This often leads them to some actions like abandoning the babies or maltreating them to spite the fathers.

Hopefully with this law, women would be able to speak out for themselves and ensure that some men live up to their responsibilities.

It's the Kardashian family's creepiest shopping spree ever -- Kim and her family hit up a famous cemetery in Hollywood yesterday ... to purchase space for their DEAD BODIES.

Sources close to the Kardashian klan tell us, Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, Rob, Bruce and Kris all stopped by the Hollywood Forever cemetery to buy a family plot. We're told they haven't picked out the exact place yet, but scoped out several locations ... including a giant mausoleum.

Right now, we're told the major logistical concern is size -- Kim and her sisters aren't sure how many kids they'll have ... but they want plenty of room for all. Like I said -- creepy family! #AMBROSSED

Main Street Bank Or Afribank just fired 800 of its workers !

Mainstreet bank, formerly Afribank Nigeria Plc, on Friday June 22nd terminated the services of 800 of its employees, including 650 members of the Association of Senior Staff of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions (ASSBIFI), a unit of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC).

The Secretary General of the Trade Union Congress, Comrade John Kolawole made the disclosure at a press conference in Lagos yesterday June 25th. He queried Mainstreet bank’s sudden unilateral action despite ongoing negotiations and a court injunction that prevents Mainstreet from terminating employees.


He said, “there is an injunction by the tripartite committee between representatives of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity, the union and management of Mainstreet Bank. The committee insisted that the bank must maintain the status quo till the issues were resolved.”

“The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) views this act of Management of Mainstreet Bank Ltd as the height of provocation and lawlessness which is condemnable. Consequently, TUC unequivocally states and demands the reversal of these terminations and other anti-labour acts immediately, failing which TUC will mobilise all its affiliates, allies and resources to shut down completely the operations of the bank nationwide.”
He added, “We are therefore appealing to all well-meaning Nigerians, Hon. Minister of Labour and Productivity, Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Director-General, Nigeria Deposit Insurance Cooperation (NDIC), The Managing Director, Asset Management Company of Nigeria(AMCON), Acting Inspector General of Police to prevail on the Management of the Bank before the bubble bursts.”

Media reports say the management of Mainstreet Bank terminated the employees by denying them access to the company’s IT network, physcial offices and asking them to wait for their termination letters which would be disseminated to them via email.
What a life! As if we didn't already have un- employed people everywhere! And they wonder why the crime rate is going higher?

A Nigerian just broke the academic record at John Hopkins University, America.

A 22 year old Nigerian has emerged the best graduating student of John Hopkins University in the US. Emmanuel Ohuabunwa from Arochukwu, Abia State obtained a Grade Point Average of 3.98 out of a possible 4.0 to earn a degree in Neurosciences. Emmanuel is the first black man to make this Grade in the university.

For his efforts, he has won a scholarship to Yale University to pursue a degree in medicine. He has also been inducted into Phi Beta Kappa Society, a prestigious honour group that features membership of 17 US Presidents, 37 US Supreme Court Justices, and 136 Nobel Prize winners. (Punch)

50 cent in an Accident!

Rapper 50 Cent was in a bad accident tonight as his bullet-proof SUV was rear-ended by a Mack truck on the LIE in NYC. He was put on a stretcher and taken to the nearest Queens hospital where they are currently running test on his neck and back. His driver is also currently in the hospital as the SUV almost flipped over. We really hope Fifty gets better & wish him the best! Her constant crying & talking to her self is getting very disturbing... I mean, she was whispering to herself for about an hour after she had that fight with Perrezo. She kept on saying how she would go home & everyone would be disappointed in her cause she cant tolerate this any longer & how strange everyone would think she is, but shes stranger! LMAO!! BOMB BLAST IN BENUE, PLANE CRASH IN THE STREETS OF LAGOS... What A Sunday!

How much more pain must we endure Nigerians?
The issue of bomb blast is still hurting our hearts everytime we hear about it. And today Dana Airlines a popular airline in Nigeria just crashed & landed on peoples homes & streets killing more people than it's 152 passengers.
What then shall we say to the innocent lives at home who got affected by a flight they didn't board?
Or the passengers who lost their lives or the pilot who was made by the company to fly a 22year old plane? Who shall console their families? What sort of compensation shall ever be enough?
But what shall we say to a President who does nothing after the constant bomb blasts everywhere? To the state government who forget the importance of rescue teams & fire services? Or the fire service department & rescue team who never showed up till the plane caught fire. Incase you didn't know the plane blew up 30MINS after it crashed! Enough time to get everyone out of the plane & make sure water tankers were ready!
What else shall we say but 3 simple words, because the uncertainty of a Nigeian has become so much that all you need is the grace of God to see you through... So I say today -> GOD HAVE MERCY!!!
